Annual Conference

The annual conference of the National Reform Association was held on September 22 and 23 at Shiloh Christian Church in Leory Township, Ohio. Howard Phillips, Constitution Party candidate for President, gave the keynote address on Friday evening, and Ezola Foster, Vice-Presidential candidate of the Reform Party, addressed the conference as well. On Saturday morning, NRA President Jeffrey Ziegler and NRA Vice President William Einwechter spoke on the state of the NRA and its mission. Howard Phillips then presented a workshop on grassroots politics. The conference had the best attendance in years, with the Friday evening meeting drawing over 450 people. Tapes from the conference are available by contacting William Gould at OtherNRA@aol.com, or by writing the National Reform Association at P.O. Box 8741, Pittsburgh, PA 15221.

Annual Board and Business Meeting

The annual meeting of the Board of Directors was held on November 10 at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At the meeting the reorganization of the NRA Board was completed. The Board has been divided into a Board of Directors and a Board of Advisors (see page 8 for the listing of the members of each Board). The Board of Directors will consist of 12 members, while the Board of Advisors does not have any limit on the number who may serve. Jeffrey Ziegler was reelected to a one year term as President of the NRA, as was William Einwechter to another term as Vice President, William Gould to another term as Treasurer, and Daniel Herrick to another term as Recording Secretary.

The Board of Directors developed plans for the NRA for the upcoming year. These plans include the organization of NRA chapters in selected states, the establishment of individual NRA membership, the printing of a second edition of Explicitly Christian Politics, and exploring the possibility of establishing a separate PAC to enable the NRA to take a more direct hand in elections and legislation. President Ziegler reported that he looks to continue his efforts at raising the visibility of the NRA and extending the organization's influence through, among other things, press releases, speaking engagements, interviews, strategic planning, networking, development of Washington D.C. contacts, and fund-raising.

The Board also approved the application of the Ohio Chapter of the National Reform Association. Bernard Kromer will serve as the director of the Ohio State Chapter.
