Correspondence

I stumbled across your web page and knew immediately that I had found a valuable resource. I'm majoring in Political Science and Journalism at the University of Southern Indiana and hope to apply and learn from what is offered in your publication for the betterment of my community. Thank you for your work.

Thank you for the work you are doing. Our country is a mess because Christians have let it become that way. Many of us in San Diego County are tired of the weak theology and escapism of the church today. Good things are happening here as we push ahead to break down the gates of hell! Your work is spreading around our little, but growing group.

This is in response to Daniel who wrote in the Correspondence section of The Christian Statesman, Nov.-Dec. 2001. The strong delusion in this country, that there actually is a "neutral realm," as in non-religious, amazes me. Every thought and deed is religious. There is no neutrality. The NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM has been deceiving just about everyone into believing that there is such a neutral realm, in government, school, and the so-called non-religious. They don't exist! Existential humanism is the religion of those who claim they are secular. It is the most vile of all religions, which expresses itself in Democracy. The end result of existential humanism is suicide. All who hate God love death, not necessarily their own... All religions boil down to two basic presuppositions: either God is God, or man can be as God... (Gen. 3:5; Prov. 16:25; Prov. 8:36).

You people are no better than bin Laden in trying to push your views of religion on people. Your vision of a Christian government will never happen here in America. This is a land of freedom, Freedom of choice, religion, sexual preference, and life itself. How dare you use Christianity to cover up your bigotry for those that aren't like you. This nation was not founded on Christianity. Perhaps it would serve you to read what George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin had to say about Christianity. This country was founded on Freedom of Religion, and it will always remain so.

Editor Responds: If by "push" you mean that we actively seek to convince others of the truth of the principles of Christian civil government that we espouse, then the NRA pleads guilty. But if you mean, as you suggest by comparing us to bin Laden, that we advocate armed force, or terrorist tactics for compelling others to submit to the rule of Jesus Christ and His law, then you are woefully ignorant of our position.

We believe in the power of the Word of God to turn men's hearts to the truth, not in the power of weapons. We believe in regeneration by the Holy Spirit for the establishment of a Christian republic, not in a Christian version of Islamic jihad. We believe in prayer and preaching to advance the kingdom of Christ, not in bombs and bullets. We advocate faith in the power of the blood of Christ to bring salvation to the world; we do not advocate the shedding of the blood of those who reject Christ. We believe in sacrificial service on behalf of others, not in suicide missions to destroy the lives of others.

We also believe in freedom--the freedom that comes from obedience to God's law. There is no such thing as lawless liberty. The boundaries of liberty must be defined by law. Without these boundaries you do not have freedom, but, instead, you have anarchy where every man is a law to himself. We believe that biblical law sets the boundaries of what is good and just, and provides the context for true freedom for individuals and nations. But, on the basis of your own religious beliefs, you reject biblical law and the Son of God who gave it, and would establish boundaries that exclude the rule of King Jesus.

Furthermore, although you profess to believe in "Freedom of Religion," you vehemently condemn those whose religion teaches them to believe in the crown rights of Jesus Christ and to labor for an explicitly Christian republic. So, it seems, that you don't really believe in freedom of religion, do you? And, according to your own terms, you must define yourself as one who uses their religious views as a cover for their own religious bigotry against Reformed Christians. Your own words, then, rebuke you,"How dare you"!
