The Christian Statesman

letters to the editor

The Christian Statesman is impressively improved. Congratulations. About the enclosed tear sheet--once a copyreader, always . . . .

Eleanor Coleman Edgar
Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania

Yes, it seems that a grammatical error in last issue's "As the Ink Dries . . . " slipped by the keen proofreading eyes of my wife (and yes, me too). The old "objective case pronoun" mistake! O, woe is I!

Seriously, thanks so much for the kind words. I'm glad you're reading that closely! --Ed.

We really appreciate all the dedication of you and your wife. It seems to me that I have heard more positive things about the Christian Statesman than I have heard in years, so I believe some momentum is gathering.

Thank you for your creativeness and for using those gifts for the National Reform, and more importantly, for Christ's Kingdom.

Betty Weimer
Shawnee Mission, Kansas

Thanks again, Betty for writing for our first issue this year, and we appreciate your generous donation as well as your kind words. God bless you in your various ministries there. --Ed.

National Reform Association is an organization which was formed in this area around 1864. About the same time a group organized in Ohio. My father and mother supported the work, and my husband and I have given support during our lives together.

He passed away July 1 of this year, at age 91 years, 4 months, and a few days. I hope to keep up our [200 Club] pledge--that the Lord will provide.

Thank you both for your dedication and concern. I hope November 9 will be a good day and a blessing to the work.

Minnie W. Finley
Sparta, Illinois

The legacy and heritage of the National Reform Association are an awesome responsibility, and they show clearly in letters like yours. May God bless you abundantly, and may He make us good stewards of the funds you have graciously entrusted to us in this work.

I'd be interested to hear more about your parents' involvement in the NRA in its early years. --Ed.

I was greatly encouraged by your presentation at Covenant Church of Pittsburgh on Saturday [Nov. 9]. The speakers were powerful. We are headed for exciting times. Thank you and God bless you for your efforts.

J. Frank Jad
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Yes, it was a great (and hectic) day. The speakers, especially George Grant, challenged many people to think about issues like the welfare state seriously for the first time.

Judging by the rest of your letter, it seems apparent that you have already been grappling with the social issues of our day. We need Christians to think biblically about social justice. --Ed.
