Letters

I wish to commend all involved for putting together a masterful treatment of "Money & Banking" in your latest issue. What clear, concise, and accurate presentations! I'm impressed with every issue I read, but felt my thanks should be sent to you, especially considering the relevance of your selected topic in the present and coming climate of modern social & economic America. Your approach to providing biblical answers to civil maladies is one I heartily embrace, and as you, long for our nation to embrace, too. Ahead, Christian Statesman, march!

Christian greetings! I anticipate that God is blessing you and your efforts in expanding His kingdom throughout the nation.

I want to thank you for publishing the Christian Statesman. It is an excellent publication and challenges me to think about many issues I have never considered before, or at least to think in new Biblical ways about these things.

I found your latest issue [Money & Banking] very timely and would like to request additional copies to distribute throughout our congregation, or would we be able to download articles contained in it for republication--unedited and with the proper attribution of course--in our church newsletters?

...I'm so glad to know that there are a few people left who are not afraid to speak the truth!! What an inspiring prayer by Rev. Jeffery Ziegler given to open the session of the Ohio state legislature. Thank you for all the work you do in publishing The Christian Statesman. George Calhoun, of Mt. Olive Tape Library in Mt. Olive Mississippi introduced us to The Christian Statesman. We never heard of it until he mentioned it to us. It is a great publication! I want to hand out extra copies to some key people who will really appreciate it.

The writings coming out in The Christian Statesman, lead me to believe you support right wing ideologies. I am opposed to much of the right wing, and therefore can't support you. Jim Wallis, in CALC, expressed much of my thinking: " The gospel of the political right is not good news to the poor, to the marginalized and disenfranchised, to racial minorities and women, to the starving millions who suffer from the way the world is presently arranged. In other words, it is not the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the gospel of American wealth and power, which is only good news to those on top...."

Calvin Chestnut

The editor responds:

The "ideology" that informs the National Reform Association is found in Scripture, not in right wing political philosophy. Our commitment is to biblical law. We preach Christ as King of the nations, and proclaim the good news of national blessings to those who submit to His reign. We reject the "gospel" of the religious left, which is nothing more than baptized Marxist liberation theology.

What makes you think that the millions of non-Christians in this nation want to be governed by your god? This is a DEMOCRACY not a THEOCRACY. Freedom from tyranny is why America was founded. Now we have little people like you wanting to put that yoke of oppression back. Doing so would nullify the deaths of every man, woman, and child who has ever died for the freedom of this country...

The editor responds:

Although it is more accurate to say that this nation is a constitutional republic, I'll grant you the perspective that it is a democracy. Committed to the principle of democracy as you are, then I assume you would have no objection if the majority of Americans chose to be governed by Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible. Liberty means that a people can choose the government that they desire apart from any external threats or constraints. If the day comes when the majority of the American people willingly decide that they want to recognize the Kingship of Christ and officially become a Christian nation that adheres to biblical law as the authority for all law, then they have the liberty to do so, do they not?

The mission of the National Reform Association is to persuade our fellow citizens that Jesus Christ is Lord and King of the nations, and that through submission to His reign we will find true freedom, peace, and blessing as a nation. We believe in regeneration through the Holy Spirit to change the nation from its descent into the tyranny and chaos of godless government (such as the kind of godless government of Stalin and the Communists); we do not believe in revolution. We believe in the power of the Word; we do not believe in the power of the sword. We believe in holy revival; we do not believe in holy war (jihad). We believe in liberty of conscience; we do not believe in liberty of concupiscence.

Our forefathers, the Pilgrims and Puritans, settled America to establish liberty for the practice and proclamation of the Christian faith. They entered into covenant with God to establish a Christian nation for the advancement of the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. The original colonies wrote constitutions that explicitly recognized the authority of God and His Word, and made faith in Jesus Christ an indispensable test of political office (see, for example, William Penn's original Frame of Government for Pennsylvania, 1682). In line with the vision of our earliest founders, the National Reform Association seeks to call this nation to repentance and to faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and King of nations.

We hate tyranny, but we love the Lord Jesus Christ who said: "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (Jn. 8:36).
