National Reform Association ==>Christian Statesman ==>November - December 1998 ==>Annual Meeting of the NRA
The annual meeting of the National Reform Association was held on Friday, October 23, 1998 at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. The afternoon Board of Directors meeting was well-attended and productive. The evening session was open to the public and featured missionary Peter Hammond of the Frontline Fellowship. Peter presented a stirring report of the progress of the Christian faith in Sudan in spite of intense persecution from the Moslem government of Sudan.
Rev. Anthony Cowley was selected to the Board of Directors on October 23 to replace retiring member Rev. Melville Martin. Rev. Cowley is no new face at the NRA. He has previously served as a board member, editor of The Christian Statesman, and president of the NRA. Tony is currently the pastor of the Minneola Reformed Presbyterian Church, Minneola, Kansas.
The NRA expresses its profound appreciation to retiring board member Rev. Mel Martin for all that he has done for NRA during his many years of faithful service.
The National Reform Association is pleased to announce its plans for a major conference to be held in Lynchburg, Virginia. The conference is scheduled for October 8-9, 1999, and will take place at the Patrick Henry Institute and Christ's College, which are directed by NRA board member Kevin Clauson. More details will follow, but for now, mark your calendars for October 8-9!
Rev. John Jere of Zambia recently wrote to the NRA saying: "Robert Zins, American Missionary in South Africa (Frontline Fellowship) was in the country preaching and teaching for two months. He asked pastors and church members to join a National Reformation Society. The response is very good. He got about 229 names of pastors and church members and I have 110 names of pastors and church members on our mailing list. He asked me to write you so that we may register NRS in Zambia. Will you please send to me your NRA constitution so that we can see what to put in our NRS constitution? The earlier the better. Our need for registration with the government, printing and transport is US $100. God willing, we may have our first National Reformation Society in Lusaka in April, 1999. Will you please pray for us, as we organise a national meeting. We need financial support to start the organisation. We hope to elect provincial representatives of NRS and hope to bring real reformation to our nation and bring the glory to God."
