News from 1999 Annual Meeting and Conference

The conference and annual meeting of the National Reform Association was held on October 8-9 in Lynchburg, Virginia at Christ College. The conference was greatly blessed of the Lord. Attendance was very good, and many new contacts and friends were made. Our speakers, Steve Wilkins and Joe Morecraft, did an outstanding job (tapes of the conference will be available in the near future). The NRA book table was a busy place with around 40 copies of Messiah the Prince, over 20 of Explicitly Christian Politics, and many back issues of The Christian Statesman being sold. All in all, the conference was a great success. And for this we give heartfelt thanks to God and to His servant, board member Kevin Clauson, who was instrumental in bringing the conference to pass.

At the October 8 meeting of the Board of Directors two very significant decisions were made. First, it was decided to restructure the Board of the National Reform Association from the existing board of 27 members into two segments: a Board of Directors consisting of 12 members who will be responsible to oversee the ministry of the NRA and a Board of Advisors who will act in a capacity of reference and advice for the NRA.

Second, important changes were made among the officers of the NRA. Rev. Jeffrey Ziegler was chosen to serve as the new president of the NRA and replace outgoing president Andrew Sandlin (for a brief biography on Jeff, see page 9). Responsibilities at Chalcedon made it impossible for Rev. Sandlin to continue as president. Furthermore, Daniel Herrick was chosen to serve as the new secretary, replacing John Schaefer. Both Andrew Sandlin and John Schaefer will remain on the Board of the NRA. The NRA expresses its profound appreciation to both Sandlin and Schaefer for the valuable service they have given to NRA as officers.
